Whether you're a seasoned rider looking to conquer challenging hills or a beginner seeking a memorable experience, these Yorkshire Moors have gravel paths that cater to every level.
Prepare to be captivated by the vast and vibrant heather-clad moorland, interspersed with deep valleys as you embark on a journey through the wildest and most isolated parts of the North York Moors National Park. The ride begins in the picturesque village of Danby home to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park Centre. From there, you'll ascend to the wild and rugged moorland trails, leading you to the stunning viewpoint of Danby Beacon. Marvel at the sweeping vistas that unfold before you, showcasing the magnificent coastline and the sea of purple heather.
As you continue your adventure, the route meanders through charming Esk Valley villages, providing glimpses of Yorkshire's rich heritage and allowing you to immerse yourself in the exuberance of the locals, known for their warm hospitality. Once back on the moortop, you'll discover remnants of the area's industrial past, riding along the disused railway that was once the lifeline of ironstone mining in the Dale. The journey westwards towards High Blakey Moor and Bloworth Crossing is a chance to absorb the melancholy charm of this exposed and rugged landscape.

At each checkpoint, we take pride in offering you a true taste of Yorkshire hospitality. Indulge in proper Yorkshire snap, quintessential local delights that will fuel your ride. Pair these delectable treats with a cup of Yorkshire Tea – it’s sure to elevate your riding experience. Our checkpoints are strategically spaced and our lunch stop takes you to a truly unique location, high upon the hills, in a moorland refuge. Accurate GPX Files:
To ensure a seamless and hassle-free experience, we provide accurate GPX files for all the route options a few days before the ride. This allows you to easily follow the course on your GPS device, in addition to following the well-placed signs along the route. With the GPX files at your fingertips, you can confidently navigate the trails, ensuring that you stay on track and make the most of your gravel riding adventure. We strive to provide you with all the tools necessary to enjoy the ride to the max.
Mechanic Support:
Your peace of mind is our priority, which is why we have mechanic support readily available throughout the event. At the event village and selected feed stops, professional mechanics will be on hand to assist with any bike issues you may encounter along the way. Whether it's a minor adjustment or a more significant repair, our knowledgeable mechanics will be there to provide expert assistance, ensuring that you can keep rolling smoothly.
Professional Medical Support:
The safety and well-being of our riders are of utmost importance to us. To ensure a secure riding environment, we have a fully qualified doctor specializing in outdoor medicine available throughout the event. In the unlikely event of any accidents or injuries, our experienced medical professional is ready to provide immediate assistance and expert care.
Rider Support Vehicle:
For added convenience and support, we have a dedicated rider support vehicle available during the Wild Gravel Ride in the Yorkshire Moors. This support vehicle is equipped to assist riders with various needs throughout the event. To celebrate your accomplishment and create a vibrant post-ride atmosphere, we welcome you to the finish line with a refreshing beer in hand. As you cross the final stretch, a well-deserved cold beverage will be waiting for you to toast to your achievements and savour the moment. Additionally, we have a delicious selection of food available from our chuck wagon, ensuring you can refuel and replenish your energy while enjoying the company of fellow gravellers. This creates the perfect opportunity to unwind, share stories from your day on the saddle, and forge new connections with folks.

Additionally, on 23rd September at 7:00 pm, each participant will receive an email containing a link to access ride times and rider photos. This allows riders to review their performance and relive their memorable moments from the event.

The Long Route:
As you embark on the long route, you'll discover a captivating blend of unique landscapes, charming villages, and fascinating historical heritage that will leave you in awe
The journey begins in the picturesque village of Danby, serving as the perfect starting point for your adventure. From there, you'll venture into the wild moor and gravel tracks, towards Danby Beacon, weaving through quaint villages nestled in the Esk Valley, an interesting beck crossing, some gruelling, yet rewarding steep climbs as you ascend onto The Delves.
The open moorland stretches around Rosedale that link onto Bloworth Crossing allows you to enjoy the smooth gravel as speed., then descending down the Ingelby Incline
Be prepared for a hidden gem as you navigate the unseen gravel paths behind Kildale, adding an element of surprise and exploration to your adventure.

The Medium Route:
The medium route offers riders a well-rounded and rewarding experience, covering approximately 70k . This route follows a similar path to the long route but takes a shorter option after the second feed station, offering a slightly less demanding but equally exhilarating ride.

The Short Route:
The short route is a scenic 38-kilometer ride. It heads towards Danby Beacon before cutting the loop short at Glaisdale. From there, it circles back towards Castleton, always staying close to the Event village throughout the loop. This route offers riders a manageable distance while still showcasing the beauty of the moors and a truly awesome gravel experience
